Giants trade for J.J. McCarthy after Jaxson Dart’s season-ending injury

New York acquired quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Vikings for a 2027 fifth-round pick, a move that followed Jaxson Dart suffering a season-ending knee injury early in Week 2 against the Rams. McCarthy lost Minnesota’s starting job to Kyler Murray after just 10 starts in two seasons, and was coached at Michigan by Jim Harbaugh, brother of Giants head coach John Harbaugh. The Giants are 2-1 after a Week 3 win over the Titans behind Jameis Winston, and host the Cardinals on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Kawhi Leonard debuts for Toronto in the NBA's first-ever game in Quebec City

The Raptors host the Heat tonight at Videotron Centre in Quebec City, the league's first game ever played there, marking Kawhi Leonard's preseason debut in Toronto after a trade that followed the NBA's cap-circumvention investigation into his former team. That probe ended with the Clippers fined $30 million and stripped of five future first-round picks, owner Steve Ballmer suspended a year, and Leonard himself fined $700,000. Leonard called himself "a distraction for the past 70 days" at Raptors media day while declining further questions on the case.
